Fairy Tales
by Jeffrey Fisher

Jeffery Fisher's Fairy Tales (subtitled "Music from the ballet, 'Hans Christian Anderson' "), is a refreshing CD. He is referred to as "The Renaissance Man" and I can see how this title applies. He is also Reiki healer.

Fairy Tales is an eclectic collection of works set in three parts: (Part I) Inchelina; (Part II) Red Shoes; and (Part III) The Mermaid. Each section, particularly the first, follow set themes, which in this case is a good thing.

The architecture of the music is what stands out the most. Listen to Return of the Butterfly Children (from Part I), and you'll see.

Throughout the CD, you'll notice that Jeffrey has added some new dimensions to the New Age genre by incorporating a fusion of styles.

My only criticism is that he could have used more modern synth sounds in some places. In any event, Fairy Tales makes a unique addition to one's music collection: the music is interesting.
